ABOUT THE EMBLEMS:

 

God and Me:  The Protestant God and Me emblem is used for Cub Scouts.  For more information concerning the requirements of the "God and Me" religious emblem look under the heading  "Protestant" in Part 2 of this book.

 

Light of the World (Torch):  The Light of the World is for Webelos Scouts and explores how the light of Jesus shines in each part of life.   Study focuses on the following discovery areas:

 

1.   Discovery 1

      a.   Light Is Important In My Life

            1]   Discovery through my senses

            2]   Projects (three of five)

 

2.   Discovery 2

      a.   Light Symbolizes the Power of God

            1]   Reading Scriptures

            2]   Making items that carry light

      b.   Projects (one of three)

3.   Discovery 3

      a.   Light Is Love Shared in My Family

            1]   Discovery of sharing feelings, expressing rights, caring for others, worshipping together

            2]   Four projects

 

4.   Discovery 4

      a.   Light Reflects from my Life to Others

            1]   Discovery through new responsibilities, celebration and prayers

            2]   Six projects

 

5.   Discovery 5

            a.   Light Radiates Into All the World

                  1]   Explore Ways by learning from other countries and people, pinpointing my church in the world, helping neglected children in the world

Liahona (Compass):   Boy Scouts (11-14 years) explore the guideposts given in scripture, church and family by God for the Liahona.  Study focuses on the following exploration areas:

 

1.   Exploration 1

      a.   Become acquainted with the Church

      b.   Six projects

 

2.   Exploration 2

      a.   God works today - how we describe God, how we find God, and God deals with us

      b.   Eleven projects

 

3.   Exploration 3

            a.   Scriptures guide us - how scriptures came to us, how we use scriptures, and how scriptures help us

            b.   Seven projects

 

      4.   Exploration 4

            a.   Restoration of Christ's Church - Restoration came to the world, my family came to the restoration, and how God helps us through the church.

            b.   Ten projects.

 

      5.   Exploration 5

            a.   I Am God's Partner in the Church - how we become stewards and witnesses

            b.   Five projects

 

      6.   Exploration 6

            a.   I am God's partner in all of Life - building health bodies, families, better community, and a better world

            b.   Eight projects

 

Life and World:   The Life and World for Scouts aged 15 to 18 examines all aspects of a young person's life from a Christian perspective.  Study focuses on the following exploration areas making extensive use of projects that stimulation introspection and discussion with a counselor:

2.   Exploration 2 - God and I

 

3.   Exploration 3 - My Family and I

 

4.   Exploration 4 - My Friends and I

 

5.   Exploration 5 - My Church and I
